2014 Amizade Godello
Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Jan 2016
($20.00) Light yellow. Aromas and flavors of fresh pear, tarragon, ginger and honeysuckle, with a zesty mineral overtone. Spicy and focused on the palate, showing strong spicy cut and lift on the back half. Finishes zesty and tight, with very good clarity and mineral-driven persistence.
2013* Amizade Godello Monterrei
Josh Raynolds, IWC (Vinous), Sept/Oct 2014
($20) Light, green-tinged gold. High-pitched grapefruit and pear aromas are complemented by chalky minerals and white flowers. Dry and silky in texture, offering juicy orchard fruit and bitter quinine flavors that put on weight with air. Clean and incisive on the mineral-driven finish, which shows very good energy and a touch of anise.
*2011 vintage was actually tasted (this wine was not produced in 2013)
2010 Godello Monterrei($18)
International Wine Cellar, #158, Sept./Oct. - Josh Raynolds
Greenish yellow. Pungent, nuanced nose displays tangerine, lemon pith, anise and herbs. Dense and sappy, with good breadth and depth to the lively flavors of citrus and orchard fruits. Finishes tight, spicy and energetic. At only 12.5% alcohol this drinks very easily. This project is a joint venture between importer Andre Tamers and the Do Ferreira winery.
