Bordatto Etxaldea 2013 Harvest
As in most of Spain and France, spring 2013 at Bordatto was cold and exceptionally rainy. This wetness made it nearly impossible to work in the orchards in the spring. Luckily summer was hot and sunny, even though it came a little late. September remained dry and warm, and also saw the arrival of the foehn wind from the south, which ensured the fruit remained in good sanitary condition.
Bordatto harvested this year’s apples from early October through late November, about two weeks later than normal. Fermentation is still occurring slowly in the cellar, so it’s too early to tell, but early signs point towards 2013 being a good vintage.
