Viña Mein 2013 Harvest
As in much of Spain, harvest occurred late at Viña Mein this year. Grapes were picked between the 1st and the 8th of October, about 10 days later than usual.
Flowering happened at the end of June, and the summer was very dry. This entailed slightly higher than normal acidity levels (total acidity of 6.8g/L) and an alcohol level of 12%.
The total harvest was 100,000 kilograms, which is about average at Viña Mein. The grapes generally came in very healthy, with the exception of 4000 kilos that were affected by botrytis and were rejected at harvest time.
In the end, maturity levels were very good, and we can expect very high quality from this vintage.
