What's New in March

¡HAY TXAKOLINA!

...or for those of you who don't live in the Basque country: "Txakolina is Here!"

It's March and that means it's the beginning of Txakolina season. The new vintage of Ameztoi, from Getariako Txakolina, and Xarmant, from Arabako Txakolina, has arrived and is ready to drink. 2007 was a vintage that came together at the very end: a cold and wet year was saved by two glorious weeks of sun that allowed the grapes to mature fully. And this is just the beginning: Uriondo is on its way at the end of this month, Gurrutxaga will be joining us in April, and don't forget the Rosé Txakolinas from Ameztoi and Gurrutxaga coming soon.

The Titini

1 oz Cava Avinyó Brut Reserva
Float in a chilled Martini glass.
2 oz Vodka
1 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice
Shake well and pour over float of Cava Avinyó Brut Reserva, garnish with an orange wedge.

Bocce Ball

5 oz Cava Avinyó Brut Reserva
Chilled Lillet Rouge
Bitters
Pour Cava Avinyó Brut Reserva into a chilled wine flute. Gently stir in chilled Lillet Rouge until you achieve the color of pomegrate. Add a few drops of bitters and garnish with a paper-thin slice of mango.
